Shenshen Wu

Shenshen a native of Tainan, Taiwan received her B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Rhode Island in 1967.  Shenshen worked as a research and analytical chemist for 3 years with ICI United States, Inc.  Her work at ICI focused on the synthesis of antioxidants for fabrics and carried out analytical procedures for antioxidants used in fabrics, polyurethane raw materials and prepolymers.

Shenshen worked for Acushnet Company – Titleist Golf Division located in Fairhaven, MA for 28 years and was the R&D manager from 2000-2006. Since 1987, Shenshen was the chief chemist who researched and developed the product line of polyurethane/polyurea golf ball covers for Titleist; and was also responsible for making the transition from the R&D laboratory process to pilot production for the manufacturing of ball covers. 

The scope of her materials research includes thermoplastic and thermoset polyurethane, polyureas and hybrid thereof; moisture resistant polyurethane and polyurea elastomers with low moisture vapor transmission rate; light stable polyurethanes and polyurea; as well as UV stabilizers.  Her analytical work includes the use of thermo analyzers (TGA, TMA, DSC); spectrophotometers (AA, IR, UV); and chromatographic methods (GC and LC.  Shenshen has received 95 patents and 60 + are still pending.  Contact Shenshen at swu@hansonco.net
